Broken save. CTD just when enemy planes enter the battle map

Just as the title says. Sadly it happens every time, so my save is borked. I really didn´t expect this sort of problem after the years passed since launch.
As a new player I must ask: does this happen often, or I was unlucky? I doubt that there´s any issue at my side, since I never, and I mean, never, have CTD´s with any of the number of games I ususally play, although everything is possible.
Anyways, if some of you veterans can answer my question I´d be grateful. I don´t want to invest time in a playthrough for it to be ruined later on.

Corrupted saves can happen in any game on the market, and there are numerous reasons for the save file becoming unusable - a game crash or computer reboot, while the game is the middle of saving, trying to load a saved game from a previous version, Steam Cloud errors, etc.

Fortunately, it's a once-in-a-blue-moon occurance (unless one has deeper stability issues with their computer.)

Thanks for your answer, but I´d still like to know if the game is prone to crashes.
Edit:
Solved it! I made a new save seconds in my previous save, exited to menu, loaded the new save and then the enemy airplanes appeared and did their thing and the game didn´t crash.

Alas, it happened again, with a new save. Sadly, the game is unplayable for me right now.
