Australians did not serve in the European theatre of the time period and thus would be a huge stretch to have encountered the Germans in Europe. They were already withdrawn to Papua New Guinea and then fighting in the pacific to defend their homeland (against the wishes of the British) against the Japanese. Thus they would have had Pacific kit and pacific training.
The New Zealanders though stayed and fought past the western desert campaign that the Aussies were in and up with the rest of the Allies into Italy. Italy is in the SD2 time period and is why they are in a DLC.
Only way you might get Australians into a DLC is if they do a pacific theatre of this period for SD2 and the devs have already mentioned new theatres will not be made as DLC content.
I guess though as a tonne of Aussies served in the RAF you might get a few Aussie accents their but essentially that would just be silly.
If the devs ever do the western desert, greece or the pacific you might get Aussies. The 9th Division if I recall was one Aussie division that Montgomery commented he would have loved to have for D-Day.... of course he did not get it. Would be great to have them in game.
P.S. I think the devs did a great job with the NZ division and it's accents. They are great fun to play. Such character.
Back to war DLC. If they release Western theater Divisions because the public demanded it, then there's no reason they shouldnt be able to release divisions from any theater because the public demand it.
I guess you are right though in that sometimes we say ETO and ITO and then Eastern Front. But my point still stands. The Pacific Theatre is vastly different to the European theatre. I doubt they want to plonk troops that were fighting the Japanese in jungles and island hopping in landing craft down against troops that were fighting the Germans. You would basically be asking troops used to being marines and jungle fighters to switch to conventional land warfare against the germans.
Quoted from Madmat in a Reddit thread about Pacific Nemesis set :"we've decided to rule Pacific/Asia out. The reason being that adding Japan alone, with all its new infantry, plane & vehicle models + voice acting would be out of scope for just a Nemesis DLC." A single Japanese Division in Nemesis form has been rejected by Eugen for less cost-efficiency, then what would happen if you count new voice line of Australian accent English and model skin-rework together with Japanese Assets?
But who knows if there was a 'Tribute to Liberation of Pacific' in the future? ; )
"Australian forces played a key role in the Pacific War, making up the majority of Allied strength throughout much of the fighting in the South West Pacific theatre. While the military was largely relegated to subsidiary fronts from mid-1944, it continued offensive operations against the Japanese until the war ended."
