City Maps
Does anybody know if there will be city maps in the future?

I very very much doubt it. The last map was about as close as you’ll get (or Lenina).

No idea why anyone wants to grind in a pure city fight with no armour anyway? It is called Steel Division because of armour I reckon.

I sure it could be made to work in some way. It would have to involve a mix of urban and open engagements though or it’d be pretty boring I think. Maybe a city with a few hills within it would make tanks useful?

I agree, also if I believe that an huge soviet-like city, with large boulevards, great squares, parks, industrial complexs etc.; would be interesting to play even with the steel division combat system. I mean, without changing game mechanics, you could follow a design that doesn't necessarily force players to an SMGs deck only, but where tanks, MGs, and long range infantry could still have a role.

City map doesnt mean no armor. They are suburbs to a city, they are edges to a city. they are park to a city, they are vertical and horizontal roads to a city, they are open spaces in a city. All of these can have tanks overlooking them and deny area. You can also recklessly send a pack of tanks forward with little care... Suiciding tanks to discover and disrupt enemy defenses.

They are tons of uses for tanks in city.

A Berlin Outskirts/Approach Map would be cool, though as close as they try to stay to historical reasoning when it comes to new content, I find it difficult to figure how they would go about it.

Maybe a separate, Fall of Berlin expansion? That would actually be pretty dope, and would give more reason to develop some maps more focused on heavy urban combat.

I also often enjoy heavy city combat. The amount of micro and attention you need to pay to lanes of fire with your armor can sometimes be invigorating in the often stale 10v10s.

I think a Warsaw approach would be much better for this game in particular. It fits the story, and it could be a "What-If" scenario where the Soviets actually made it in time to help the Polish resistance.

a big warsaw map could be AWESOME to play with the polish divisions.

I agree with this 100%, that would REALLY spice the game up and add a whole new layer to strategic depth. Right now the Home Army Division isn't the absolute best, but in a city environment the tables would be turned. Infantry divisions would suddenly be used a whole lot more in multiplayer. Hope the devs release something like this, Warsaw is a great idea.

Would love a destroyed Stalingrad or Warsaw map, yet the devs are very anti-new maps because of time to create and the size of the game files that would have to increase. Shame really, as this game would be so much better off with at least 1 built up map.

Big urban maps wouldn't work at all in this game for so many reasons. Maybe for Steel Division 3. But I doubt it. Too much redesign necessary, too much of a performance impact.

"We are putting the finishing touches on the previously announced urban map. Check out the deets in our previous post here. Expect some challenging house-to-house combat in this new urban map, which mixes semi- and dense urban terrain."

I assume this is going to be a larger version of those village maps we have. I'd be very surprised if that map looked like Stalingrad or something.

The game wasn't designed for city-style urban combat,
hence it lacks fundamental mechanics for it
it would be pretty bland
performance would be awful
balance would be way off
