Will we ever get a map maker?
Remember spending some 100h in base Starcraft 2, but then what feels like 900h in community made gamemodes, especially survival/co-op/zombie maps made from the custom map maker.

Would be ever see a map maker in this game? Would see so many possibilities of playing this game even more if we had something like that.

All I know is that Eugen hasn't mentioned it in a long, long while.

Sounds like they're putting in a lot of work to let us remember :fs:

From something I heard somewhere a long time ago ... was some kind of ‘legal’ issue involved. Probably something to do with repurposing work of designers hired to produce digital art?

I’m guessing though. It is certainly something they said they want to do. As per usual wants and needs clash, and the reality of producing something like this would take a lot of work.

Hope for everything expect nothing ;)

Sadly it probably won't happen but would be damn awesome if it did.

If they sold a map tool, they'd be hard pressed to justify selling DLC campaigns.

map tool doesn't allow adding new models so you'll still be stuck with using is-2 model to represent is-3

In my honest humble opinion... I don't think they will ever add a map editor at all. This game's purpose is to rely on making new Army General Campaigns and new units on every add-on. Here's the deal, the game's community is split between two large types of players... the multiplayer community which is interested in having new units so they can customise new decks and the singleplayer community which wants to play new scenarios on Army General. I don't really understand though, why they are not having an approach more like Cities Skylines where on every add-on they are adding new mechanics to their game (in preparation for Cities Skylines 2) whilst the community get's to build their own maps and tonnes of add-ons that bring in return even more functionality to their game. Perhaps, it's because the way their engine works...

Eugen can still create their army general campaings as in general those include new units.

Main thing would be stanard battle-maps which the community could create, the maps eugen makes are anyhow free asfar I know so its not like they would miss out on any money by letting the community create maps.
