Is it just me or is tank combat with AI really unfun.

I find it very frustrating when my 3 STUGs are unable to take out a single t34 yet that same t34 is able to combat all three stugs and win the engagement from a distance of 2000 meters. I honestly feel like this is just a difficulty issue, which makes no sense. Why should the AI have better armor values on tanks when im not playing as that faction, I've heard the devs multiple times state, "the AI does not cheat". But this right here just seems cheaty at best.

Not sure, about which type of T-34, the vet status of your stugs vs their T-34.

If that is T-34-85, and it most likely is, it makes perfect sense. T-34-85 will outgun Stugs on long range, because 85mm gun retains it's penetration much better than 75mm on Stug. The only way how to defeat a T-34-85 with a Stug is a short distance ambush not head to head sniper duels.

oh ok. I just wish some of this information would kinda be given would make it a lot more helpful.

It was given to you while you were playing but instead of learning it, you decided it was an issue with the game, blamed the AI for cheating and came on the forum to complaint about it. ;-)

Exactly. Btw if you click on an enemy battalion on the campaign map in Army General, it displays what units and how of them are in said battalion, furthermore if you click on the icon of one of the units, a window pops up showing what unit it is exactly and its stats. This will help you better understand what you are up against.

Anyway, this isn't what I said and that wasn't the point. You mentioned you wished that some of these informations you talked about in this thread would be given by the game, and I confirmed with you that it was, but you refused to see it for what it was and directly went to think there's something wrong with the game, rather than the strategy you were employing, and to try to remedy that for next time. That, was my message.

When possible you want to engage tanks with AT guns. I know sounds pretty obvious but you will get a lot more value from a tank as infantry fire support & encirclement tactics than going head to head with other tanks. AT guns have a much higher rate of fire and they're harder to spot/hit. believe it or not i find it more useful to engage enemy armor with ARTY (with radio) than tank vs tank duel, now the exceptions being the King Tiger & IS-2 they're juggernauts and can take an absolute beating but thats why they make cluster bombs right lol!

do you honestly think this is the best approach to giving people advice? Bringing in 3 stug III against 4 T34-85 at maximum range is a pretty good way to get smoked

AI does not cheat with unit stats.



And with the limited info you give there is not else we can say other then ''git gud''

For all I know you could have sent out 3 no start StuG III E's to a fight a 3 star T-85/44 at long range.

And if you look up the stats off those units it would be clear that the Stug III E's will lose.
