Modding?
Will eugene games ever support normal modding? I mean not reskins or little technical mods but for instance creating new nations or units?

Not at this time. From what I know, they have... ... never?
Actually, NSD44 did support some limited modding, but mostly, like text files.
Not, say, 3d modding, and animations, or godzillas.

But you could import models into SD1!

But at least from what I only know that vehicle models could get imported.

Tried to have an artillery model ported into the game, but it didn't work right cause I didn't know the higherarchy of the artillery, or how to animate it either.

But tanks or cars worked fine and it was a great addon!

edit:
Oh yeah, and in SD44 you could add new divisions, new units, etc. Adding a giant infantryman(Godzillas) is possible in SD44. MrCrisps did all those things in SD44 for his Storm in the West mod!

Was hoping they would re-add modding tools(mostly to import models) cause I was already preemptively trying to make an SD2 mod, that was actually my main motivation for getting SD2. ._.;

I noticed the Store page said workshop content, but should I just give up on SD2?

edit2: I trust the workshop icon in the storepage. = w=)7

There were mods adding new units in sdn44, only thing not possible are new maps.

Just worried that SD2 might go a step back rather than staying where it is in terms of modding... Never mind taking a step forward. As long as it at least stays where it is when it comes to modding I'll be a happy boi!

I dont see why DIvisions shouldnt be as modable as in SDN44, and if it didnt change big time some of the modders of SDN44 even know how to model in new 3 models by now and create fully new vehicles (not just different armed and skinned infantry or hiddenfile vehicles), so WW1 mod and others might come :)

Id like to see cheat mods if AI still be broken as fu**.. i dont like PVP and campaign was unplayable in SD normandy.
The way the iris zoom engine was created will not allow adding or removal of new maps, units or weapons you can only edit existing items... It's been this way since R.U.S.E... All Eugen's games since that point have employed the Iris Zoom engine. We tried this for a LONG time in Wargame... To no avail mind you.

No, there wasn't... Again, you could only tinker with existing items ie. units weapons, armor setting ect... This includes skins... Re-skinning is not creating anew. Also in doing this you remove an existing item, effectively replacing a pre-existing item

You were just no one did it..... And no you didn't had to replace other units with your creation. I mean you could even create new buffs etc. Just look at storm in the west. And there is a way to create and add new models and the creators of storm in the west and divisions in Normandy worked on it but it wasn't worth the work anymore as this was after the sd2 announcement so they waited for sd2. If they like the game they will do it in sd2.

And I consider inf units with new unique weapon load outs new units too. But since you flamed a Modder for not updating because he was busy in real life, I can't take you seriously anymore anyway....

I mean, I was making a Valentine model until I heard that SD2 was gonna have the Valentine in it... I also made an M1 Howitzer model for SD1, but I didn't know the hierarchy or just how to do proper animations in 3dsMax. So the towed howitzer was a bust, but adding tanks or car models is pretty easy to do in SD1!

no modding = game died soon. Look at Company of Heroes 2 or Men of War 2. Both games are still live and bring a lot of fun because of modding. (maps, units, balance, campaign and so on)
And btw SD44 = artillery spam, SD2 = tanks spam. I see tons of videos from SD2 beta and i must say this game looks boring. 40 minutes and frontline nearly doesnt change and all players bringe a few inf and tons of tanks. If all games are the same, it gets boring rly fast... Still have it in my wish list, but not buying this one right now. Maybe if price will be 19.99.

Apparently, mod tools have been released, but it's not among the first google search entries and I'm also unable to get them to work, although i managed to mod SD44, which was basically the same ...

The article says that these tools will support total conversion mods? My question is, when are we getting a 40k mod.
The one thing the game needs for modders it will never get... the ability to make maps.
