How are people so obsessed with 10v10?
How are people so obsessed with 10v10?

I hate 10v10, its usually a massive chaos and everything from 3v3 down feels much more tactical and thought through than some 10v10 where everyone just spams units.

I must be special always disliking what everyone seems to like.

I see, guess I am just someone who likes challenging risky matches then.

Indeed, and a good attribute that is, but the majority of casual players tend to be more risk averse, hence the obvious (but rather baffling to some) popularity of 10v10, it's just life psychology.

I find that 10v10 adds depth to the game. There are several divisions which only truly come into their own on a large scale.

Consider 16. Luftwaffe. It's infantry, tanks, recon and AT are weak, making it a very defensive deck in smaller games, and generally not very effective. But in a 10v10, it can provide enough AA, artillery and offensive air support to make a meaningful difference for several different allies.

Consider their opposite, 101st Airborne. They possess enough bombers to decimate enemies on a strategic level, an ability that cannot really be used in a smaller setting.

Yeah 10vs10 mitigate the differences between divisions, largely due to the 9 others decks able to help you in a precise situation. It's a fact in 1vs1 or 2vs2 you have divisions and decks just fitting some maps way better than others. And we arn't even talking about the balance between decks. That's why in SD1 you always got the same flamethrowers from 101st Airborne picked up when you have heavy forests maps and why heavy panzer decks like Panzer Lehr are never picked up in 1vs1.
I understand perfectly well why many people find it's min maxing and competitive cause every unit is important. But to some extent it's just leaving a large part of the possibilities of the game on the side.

I'm pretty sure 10v10 has been confirmed for a long time for SD2 https://www.gamerevolution.com/news/411029-steel-division-2-10-v-10-multiplayer-eastern-front

Great example of why I love 10v10. You can actually specialize in a niche role and synergize with teammates while not having to do everything at once like when you're responsible for half the map in a 2v2.

I don't mind competitive players prefering smaller games, tryhards gonna tryhard. Just let me have my casual 10v10 fun :P

Tactical mode on Red Dragon servers usually plays out similar, in which, players pick a place to defend that usually requires specific units, while some people choose to stay back and play support roles, like arty, helo or air.

I find tactical mode to be addicting and an evolution in the genre for PVP.

You just reminded some of my games placing 88's all over the map behind my allies and putting lutfwaffe infantry everywhere to keep the holes :)

This elitism is asinine. You want challenge? Wait until half of your team leaves in a 10v10 and you have to compensate for all of them. Perhaps the stress in 10v10 shows the lack of confidence and fear of uncertainty that these "challenge seeking" people don't face in smaller matches.

You can pin your favorite comments all you want. But there is no made up moral high grounds.

^^ True stuff bud. It's all about perspective and I seek the sort of fight you lay out, not every match, but when it happens without planning for it. It's war.

If you guys want to join us for some 10v10s and general team play, come and be a part of what we are doing together.

Awesome xD

This is the kind of specialized teamwork you can only get in 10v10

The most popular thread, and 10v10 is not even in beta.

10 v 10,

Chaos. Arcadey. Just like Age of Empires where you lassoo of axemen and send them off in one direction.

"Thing about these small battles in SD44 is, that maps or a certain composition of battlegroups favour one side a lot. It is very easy to simply dominate those playing with friends against randoms and very annoying toconstantly get rekt the other way. Creating these small matches on a fair basis is very unlikely."

That's the same problem with SD2.

Play the beta and it's already happened. Teams are already forming with players of high experience having a stomp. Some have 100+ games already! When the game is released it will have the same problems.

Showing level is fine but EUGEN, show win rate in the lobby too!!!
