Disheartened troops and Discipline trait

I've been testing out the discipline trait on the Feldgendarmerie with disheartened troops. You'll remember that the discipline trait prevents friendly units from within it's radius from surrendering like a leader but without the veteran level bonus. However leaders do not prevent disheartened troops from automatically falling back when their suppression is full, the discipline trait does. i've been trying to exploit this. The radius of the trait is short and unlike leader, veteran levels do not increase the radius, it can be difficult to distance the Feldgendarmerie from the unit. As a result, if artillery is called on the disheartened troops under discipline the Feldgendarmerie will also be suppressed and if he is pinned down his discipline trait turns off and the disheartened troops fallback. This isn't much of an issue in conquest since artillery strikes usually deal enough suppression to make even regular units fall back but in breakthrough you can not have your troops fleeing the trench and artillery usually can't force out regular troops. I've been trying to make a tiny trench further back behind the main trench just for the Feldgendarmerie and Leader but sometimes an artillery shell veers towards it and pins the Feldgendarmerie and everyone goes running. anyone else testing this out?
