My best suggestion , and i taught a friend this way. Is to set up a private game of breakthrough (attack or defend) and practice that way against easy AI. Make your own battlegroups and practice with what works and what doesnt. I suggest learning how to defend first so you can learn line of sight and other things (also because its easier). Then when you are confident you know how to defend. do the same map but be on the attacker side.
There is also the option of watching people play the game on youtube there might be good tutorials on there as well.
There is a tutorial in SDN44 :)
That said, I love to teach :)
Where ?
EDIT
just checked yep just press escape while in army general and its right there in the menu "manual"
Edit:Just double checked it,they may add the game manual to store page on steam in formal release if they followed previous procedure.
