It was used in Poland, and in timeframe. The Pershing was not. Maybe you are thinking of the Jagdtiger?
Set in summer 1944 France where the US had no pershings at its disposel.
No Pershings at the time and place = no pershings for the US in-game, as simple as that.
Sturmtigers were used in Poland at the end of Bagration, and so belong in game.
Sturm-Mörser-Kompanie 1000 with it's 2 prototype Sturmtigers, manned by Alkett factory personnel, never engaged the Soviets- they only fought within Warsaw then withdrawn.
They're in SD 2 for flavor.
Why they're attached to the 'Hermann Göring'...for the fun of it.

I know, but the Warsaw Uprising is now within the scope of the game, and hence so is the Sturmtiger.
That being said, I think they need a nerf in reload speed.
The game is set in the Summer of 1944.
