Breakthrough & Destruction w/o time limit, Planes...
(FYI: I have written about this in another post but realized there should be a dedicated post for it - to anyone who read my other post, apologies for repeating myself.)

Belonging to the community of gamers who enjoy realistic, immersive, simulator-like gaming experiences, I would like to suggest to Eugen to please include unlimited battles again, i.e. to leave 'total destruction' as an option to disable the automatic, forced ending of matches.

For some players, including myself and all my friends who I play the series with, a big part of the fun comes from playing total destruction, i.e. having no winning condition other than total destruction. To be precise, I have almost never played any other mode, be it in skirmishes or multiplayer matches, and - as a quite defensive player - I am quite doubtful that I would still enjoy the game as much with the added pressure of a ticking time limit. Additionally, it can be noticeable how the time limit changes players' strategies, as short-term optimization and territorial gains become incentivized towards the end of a match (which to me also has a more arcade-like feel).

Lastly, allowing the option for 'total destruction' would not have any negative consequences for players who prefer quicker, more fast-paced games. What do you guys think? Looking forward to your feedback. Thx Eugen for reading this. :)

On another note, can you please fix that AI misbehavior, where a plane keeps circling over its intended target without attacking while getting shot at? Thanks! ;)

For what it's worth: I have been playing the series since Wargame: AirLand Battle.

I agree. I don't see why that isn't an option for all modes. It doesn't hurt the game as it's simply an additional option for all of us who actually enjoy the chess match that can come with a longer game. Mind you, I still enjoy the quick games but I don't feel like I'm in control of the action as much, so I might as well just play C&C Generals if I'm looking for that kind of game play.

The other issue is there aren't enough Destruction Mode maps. I don't know how or why there are so few playable maps in Destruction Mode. There should be no difference in the map list. Even if all the maps were playable in Destruction Mode, it would help alleviate the annoyance in not being able to play Total Destruction in the CTF modes.

100% agree. It would be nice to hear from the developers on this one for sure.
Nothing annoys me more than losing to a time limit.

I agree with you, too.

Sadly, this topic had already been closed a long time ago. It has been seen many times by the developers... They are aware of it and said they won't introduce a no-time limit option as the game was apparently not designed for it and they say its mechanics would not work with it.

Which is why I abandoned playing this version a long time ago and went back to SD:44. Sad, because there were some good things in SD:2, graphics and atmosphere among them.

What I found weird was the occasional hostility here in the forums for asking about that feature... some people felt strangely offended by the idea that a game could become more accessible to a wider audience by adding a feature. So should your comments end up getting smashed don't be too surprised. :(

Oh yeah well that's just the way the internet is, with regards to people bashing other people. Nonetheless, despite what the Devs say, it's just a simple matter of re-programming to get it to work. Really, one could just add a wider and higher range of Game Duration times to choose from. But like I said the simplest solution would be to just allow all maps to be playable in Destruction.

The main reason why i still have not purchased the game. Like someone above said, zerg rush in these types of games gets old.

Add the time limit option on/off. Simple. Let us play around with encirclements, double envelopments etc. Who cares if some people want to spend a couple of hours setting and playing a long slow tactical set piece battle..it's enjoyable and in no way affects how others want to play.

It's not like this game is WiTE that requires hundreds of hours of thought out gameplay, but it would be nice to spend a little bit more time if one wants to.

Yep that's all I'm saying as well. Make it an option. People that want time limits can still have them. Doesn't interfere with either play style. But for me, Zerg rush just isn't as fun in a game that is designed with more tactics in mind. Oh well. There's a mod that allows you to increase the time limits but it's currently broken as it wipes out all of your Battlegroups when activated. I may have to look into modding it myself.
