Artillery without direct-fire capability, like mortars, won't track because they're not able to directly fire at a target within 2000m.
Direct fire can target a specific unit, hence track it.
After that it works in two ways:
If you do that outside of 2000m range then it does not track and it only attacks the position on the ground. The unit can then move out of this area and not receive any damage.
If you directly order an artillery gun to attack within 2000m EVEN WHEN OUT OF DIRECT SIGHT then it will use indirect fire trajectory but it will also track its target ie it is not fired at a ground position. it is fired at a moving target and it will track it even if it moves somewhere else.
This tracking thing works with all indirect artillery guns that have a % accuracy value listed for their HE ammo. So it works for every indirect artillery weapon but the mortars and the ml20 152mm howitzer. Works within 2000m only.
I was wondering if it is indended and whether the mortars shoud do it also which they at the moment can not.
