Romanian Divisions as possible DLC?
Romania played a large part in WW2, they were arguably not as loyal to the axis cause as the hungarians or Italians who had serious reasons to be bitter about their interwar situation.

Nevertheless, the Romanians fought for the axis, and following a coup switched sides and fought for the allies, directly aiding the Americans and British, and finally after their territory was overrun, they fought with the soviets in a limited capacity. they had more success on the eastern front than the Italians, though the Italians had more troops in the region, this was due mostly to the fact that Romania was assigned to the southern invasion corridor along the Black sea and Crimea, a time and place that are not the focus of this game.

for anyone who has already done research on this topic: Would it make sense to have Romanian divisions participating on the eastern front around the time of operation Bagration, or would it be more logical to just have single Romanian units added to german divisions? They fielded a considerable force on the eastern front with cavalry, armored and infantry divisions and were used as a "meat shield" for retreating German units and were treated as expendable by german high command. Could it even be possible to have Romanian units fighting for BOTH sides?

As the war goes on, the records of exactly where these units went to is shaky, with many being reorganized into support brigades for german units and others disappearing entirely (either surrounded and destroyed or surrendered)

I personally think that smaller, secondary countries create a great flavor for this game and the wargame series, the primary nations are obviously the most stacked with good units and have the largest number of divisions to choose from but the secondary nations provide unique and sometimes unexpected playstyles and challenge, and help illuminate the great sacrifice made by many for beliefs and for survival, not just those in the great powers.

Time will tell ...

Romania would make interesting divisions indeed.
Not sure if it could provide any A division, but I know of several possible solid B ones.
And who wouldn't want to play with a Resita gun? ;)

Steppewolf had made some thorough researches & proposals for that nation, it shouldn't be hard to unearth them ...

I'd imagine if they expand the campaigns to the south in the Ukraine (Army Group South) there will be Romanian divisions. I agree that having Romanians would be awesome.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I've made a research about Romanian armed forces in summer of 1944 and you can find it posted here:

MadMat mentioned above the Resita 75 mm AT gun, this was probably the best piece of this category of WW2 so it will pack a punch against tanks.

I also agree with the opinion that Romanian division won't be of A category due to lack of heavy tanks like Panther or Tiger but would make very strong B ones with 2 of them possible very good for 1v1 and small games.

Feel free to ask any questions
