- Try to find companions if solo is really too difficult.
- Kite a lot in first dungeon.
- Use Bow/knifes to pull units 1 by 1.
- If you use a 2 handed weapon like hammer or two handed sword (And maybe some others), you can do a heavy attack and swing your weapon to hit 5 enemies at once. So basically you use heave attack and dodge, heavy attack and dodge. No way anyone can hit you with this tactic in your first dungeon.
- When you die, try to learn why you died. Try to understand walking patterns of enemies for example. If you know the patterns, you can anticipate on where and when to attack.
- Of course, learn patterns of your enemies as well. They all have maybe 2 type of attacks. If you understand then, then you know if you need to dodge or can parry or block.
In the end, it is just Dark Souls. And patience is key in Dark Souls games. Dying and learning as well ;)
You can also utilize dodges overall, in order to avoid attacks if you don't want to block or parry them. Even dodging INTO attacks will work, as crazy as it may sound. Just make sure you have enough stamina for attacks and doges (moving backwards to regenerate is a good plan).
Focus on the closest enemy ("Tab" key on PC) until he's dead and repeat until everyone is dead. There isn't much more to it than that. "C" key (for kick) will break enemy shield's defense. But letting them come, hitting and then getting back stamina/distance is a safer way of doing this.
You can also stun enemies if you deplete their orange-ish bar. It will cause them to stumble. Which means you don't have to dodge away.
