In the Negation climax you need one of two things.
- Learn about the specter project (see below).
- OR All the way back in the first chapter you needed to enter the laboratory with the specter by the front door (backtracking to it from another room doesn't work).
In the Glamor climax you need three things.- Learn about the specter project (see below).
- AND Use Negation as a power source to prepare the Kingdom for a potential war.
- AND Use Negation during the war itself (which of course requires going to war).
This is a pretty rare case because the requirements are likely to push you toward the Negation climax instead. To learn about the specter project you need one of the following.
As a general rule the best way to avoid a climax is to force another one. Aside from the Divination climax there is no pivotal decision that will lock you into a particular climax over the others, instead a lot of different factors are weighted against each other. Here are the biggest influences.
- Avoid Glamor/Rot: Avoid using Glamor, don't become a saint, get items that remove Rot (e.g. the potions you can buy in Akriton or the book you can buy in chapter 4).
- Avoid Automation/Storms: Make minimal use of Automation, don't use the storms as a power source for the Kingdom.
- Avoid Negation/Dark Sun: Don't use Negation as a power source for the Kingdom, don't use Negation during the war.
- Avoid Vivomancy: Don't create new species of animals, don't transform people into tortoise, don't use beasts as a power source for the Kingdom.
Using the Fateshaper will also push you toward the respective climax (again, except Divination). And yes, if you play your cards right it's possible to avoid all climaxes and move straight to the ending. As for getting a successful ending through a particular climax more often than not it's nothing more than a stat check. If you're good in the stat related to the climax you've reached you will succeed. A good thing to note is that successfully negotiating a peace with the Empire will give you a choice that either helps you with the requirements to get through a climax in the desired way or push you away from a particular climax.
