Does dosbox not work at all or is it commander keen that is having the problem? How are you lauching the game? And when was the last time that you played the game before the problem occurred (a day before the update, months ago?)? If you could provide some info on what is happening when you try to play this can help solve the issue. You can't just assume that the Windows 10 update is causing the problem.
Solution:
Look for the [keen(#).conf] file in C:Program Files>Steam>SteamApps>common>Commander Keen>base(#)>
Open it up with notepad and change the output=overlay (If that one doesn't work opengl or openglnb should, but ddraw and surface do not work when playing straight from steam and the default probably is set to surface)
If your game is having issues with the screen resolution, you want want to edit some other values in the keen.conf file.
This would be changing fullscreen=true, fulldouble=true, and fullresolution=[your screen's resolution]
Eg. fullresolution=1366x768 (When I first got the game it was running super wide and some of the game was cut off)
Save the file and it is ready to go.

Found in C:Program Files>Steam>SteamApps>common>Commander Keen> labelled [Keen #.bat]
This worked for me, thanks.
Did you try the above?
How do I know if it's crashing due to some other issue, and how do I rectify that?
So here is the thing. Although I'm not 100% sure on what the steam play button does (what file it is referencing), it seems to be running each game from their seperate config files (which is honestly quite annoying in my opinion). This means that if you want to use the play button, then you would have to change each one. If you ran the game from dosbox itself, then you would be able to use the one config file to play all the games, but then you would have to locate the files.
For example:
C:> cd Keen
C:KEEN> cd base1
C:KEEN>BASE1> keen1
Most people do not understand how this works, but if you do then this would work fine. Or you could create the shortcut for the BAT files and this should also run the games. Anyways, lots of options, but the easiest probably is to change the output a few times and run the game on steam if you don't really know how DOS works.
Glad it works!
