Thats a feature I like in other TD-Games, but if it doesn't fit the way you want your game to be, because it adds difficulty or something (I've seen a target priority item in hero mode), then I'm also okay with that.
Just wanted to ask if there's anything else planned for target priorities.
Nice game so far :)
Thanks for feedback and glad to hear that you like it so far.
Yes, we have plans for it. Currently the auto-selection of towers always prefers the enemy closest to the tower.
In (hopefully) 0.9.3 I will add a switch for the target mode to attack either the closest to the tower or the one closest to the end portal (so the one on the front of the path). Either way it only uses this mechanism when the tower not already has a target. I fit has a target it will attack them as long as in range and not dead.
Of course there are some exceptions. Besides Hero Mode where monsters can have abilities that force them to be targeted (or the opposite like for Gizmo) towers with status effects (Poison, Mud, Pulp, Acid...) currently always priorize enemies that don't have their status. Only if no target without their status is in range they will use the algorithm above. This behavior will also be adjustable, so you can force them to behave like "normal" towers and always attack the target you set for them.
Regarding sttack the strongest/weakest enemy we have two items in Hero Mode (as you already found out) that modify tower behavior in this direction. One item will force the tower to always attack the strongest enemy in range and gives an additional damage bonus. The other one will let the tower prefer enemies that it can kill with one shot, so it's good to kill at least these ones before they reach the portal and allows other towers to focus on the rest of the monsters.
Is this what you would like or do you have any other suggestions on that topic?
I see... Cool!
Status effect towers prioritizing enemies without their status is a nice feature, otherwiese those towers would be much less effective.
In addition to firing at one-shot-targets I think it would also be very practical if you could set one tower to prioritize the enemy with the lowest remaining HP. This would allow fast firing weak towers like the electricity tower to clear out the smaller or almost dead enemies, while stronger towers wouldn't need to "waste" powerful slow shots at those enemies.
Besides this little suggestion, yeah, that was kinda what I had in mind. Thanks :)
I'm curious about the next updates, weiter so :)
Yes, but it might be useful for getting elementals down. And the default mode will stay as it currently is.
Yes, something like that makes also sense. I added it to the idea list for new items. Will be another possibility to individualize towers (at least when you get the item :D ).
Looking forward to hear your opinion on the new stuff coming ;)
Actually it's a good strategy to first get three different elements to be able to build different tower combinations with two and three elements. Then I suggest to level them up so you have three elements on level 2. Then you can add a fourth element.
It also depends on the elements you get, we need to do some more balancing there, but for that we also need some more input from actual players.
What difficulty do you play on?
What I forgot to say: Only Classic Mode has an end, the other two modes end when you lost all of your lives. Don't know what mode you're playing, if it's Survival or Hero Mode then that's why you never reach an end :D
Classic Mode should be doable on medium difficulty though. What wave do you reach? Actually there is some difficulty jump around wave 30 where it becomes much harder than before very fast.
Towers should target the mobs their element is best suited for (default) and may be switched to first monster if needed.
This already works, but only for towers of the same type (Ballista 1 for example).
That sounds like an option we could add. I put it on the idea list ;) I wouldn't set it as default as it's not optimal in every situation and I never felt like I need it. But optional for those that want it that way sounds fair.
It is similar to Element TD gameplay wise, but it's not the same game. There is no cannon tower as base tower, only the Ballista, and the Ballista has to be built as base for each of the element towers first.
