Italian Translation
Hello there,

I'm loving the aesthetics of Gamedec and recently joined the Discord server to follow development, as this is a genre that really interests me (big fan of Shadowrun here).

Is there any chance you might consider an Italian translation for the game? I suspect Gamedec is going to be quite text-heavy, which would make the language barrier insurmontable for Italian players that are not very familiar with English. But I can see that some of my Steam friends already have the game on their wishlists.

I would LOVE to work on a translation myself, if you're interested. I have already localized many other games (worked on the Steam client too, see my profile badge and my workshop section!) and I'd really really love to discuss with you about this.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Hello Peats, unfortunately, we're not planning to add the Italian language into our game at this moment. We're an indie studio and our business decisions have to be taken with great care. Translating a game into additional language is very expensive so we base our decisions on the number of people wishlisting Gamedec on Steam, GOG.COM and Kickstarter data.

Thanks for your reply! But, sadly, italians have not this habit to wishlist a game. Then... is a "lost war"

Hi Matt, a backer here and also Italian, so I knew beforehand that the game wouldn't be translated in my language. I usually play in English but still like to have the game available in Italian as well so that is widely spreaded.
While I understand the business reasons (from your point of view there's little to no italian market for your game), I wanted to point out a flaw in using wishlists as base for inferring market interest for your game. I cannot speak for all the population, but for what I can see Italian gamers that wish to play games translated in Italian are not interested in games that are not, so they won't wishlist or support them. What you are reading from those numbers is actually the effect of your business decisions (not having the game translated in a particular language) rather than the real market interest.
I hope that this point of view will be considered in the future.

This is totally true. I can confirm that by myself and by watching what my friends do/say about that.
A good solution would be a wishlist counter of a determinate region, then when it reach a certain point, you will add that feature (in this case, italian translation). An example would be an image on the Steam market page with the text "We need XXX italian wishlists and you will got the italian translation"

Hi Matt, i wanted to add a little note, Peats is a great translator, i did not understand if his offer here was for free or in exchange of a fee but i'm sure that even in case of a fee he would demand a very honest one, much cheaper that what most of the translators companies ask to translate a game, so, considering that Italian community is very passioanted of rpg games, i think would be a nice idea to open your game also to us, so i hope that in some way you might find an agreement that would be good for all, thanks again.

We are also Italians! An amateur translator is more than enough

I have C1 english certificate, but playing videogames mean relax, i can't relax if i am forced to translate AND enjoying the game at the same time. It's frustrating. Sorry, no money from me
