[Solved] Coop?
Is it easy to do online coop with my steam friends? Are there any port problems, or extra crap I need to sign up for before my buddies and I can play (story coop) together?

EDIT
This issue...
Weird. My buddy and I can't seem to see each others games when we make servers.

We're both trying to create a server and inviting each other, but it's saying that our servers are not responding. When we try to see if our servers are on the server lists, it says that none of our friends are currently playing (on the friends server list) and on the public list our servers aren't showing up.

Both he and I have connected to online, open servers, but not to each others.
...has been resolved by following the steps in this post.

We didn't port forward, but we did do these steps...

3. Start game, set password if needed. MAKE SURE YOU START IT IN LAN MODE!!!! Once ingame, type sv_lan 0, and heartbeat in console (~). Once you've typed in though's commands type in changelevel divine_cybermancy. This will restart the server and apply the settings sv_lan 0 and heartbeat.

4. Tell your friend to type in console "password lol" <---password doesnt have to be lol, its just w/e you put it to. Get rid of the ".

5. Get your ip from http://www.whatismyip.com/ and give it to your friend so he can type in "connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" <---X's depends on your ip. Get rid of the ".

And it allowed us to connect to each other. Although, we've had to do it each time we start a new session.

I'll keep this up in the case that it may help someone get into MP if they are having similar issues.

Nope, just start up a game and invite your friends. That easy. Even better, the experience, weapons, upgrades, etc your characters gain in co-op stays between single and multiplayer. You can actually progress through the story normally as you would in singleplayer, but you have to choose which person's save you'll be using when you start co-op.

Nice, thank you. I'm not seeing how you start a coop story session. Do you just pick a map when you make a server, or is there a "join story" option that I'm not seeing?

EDIT: I think I may have figured it out. Are there any ports that need forwarding?

I don't think you have to port forward at all, and hosting is incredibly easy.

You can play single co-op maps that have random objectives or co-op story mode, but I think both of you will have to start up singleplayer at least once to make your character, then you can play co-op sotry.

When I played this in coop some years back you had to port forward and use in game console to even host it.
Maybe its been fixed since.

You might have to use hamachi or make sure that you turned off lan, but put a password so only he can join. Make sure when making the server that you have lan as no otherwise he won't be able to see it unless you two use hamachi.

My buddy and I ran into that and I gave up trying to play the game. I hope their new WH40K game isn't a ♥♥♥♥-show as it pertains to MP connectivity.

Help me please. I want to play with a friend, but we can't join each other's servers. Used all the console commands listed in this discussion, turned off the firewall, used radmin and hammachi, nothing happens. How to be?

That was how it got it to work, but in my case i did it without hamachi, so didn't need to start it in lan mode as he said.
Also, don't leave the password empty, i remember not letting my friend connect for whatever reason. Other than that I can not remember, been a while:
