you can technically use maintenance to heal with light armor, but ive not found that to be effective at all personally, especially since that a) takes energy b) a single bullet to the anything takes off like half of your everything c) you get better alternatives to that very early in the game
its a fun challenge though
Light armor is just as good at stopping explosions and armor piercing guns as heavy armor, meaning not at all.
Dermal armor does hold up better to sustained fire when there's real armor underneath.
And lastly if you have 10 cyberlegs and over 100 agility you run just a little bit too fast in light armor, if you're like me and also abuse Sauce™ engine physics to run faster.
So, light armor. Only use it for looks for that stylish miniskirt and leather pouch full of neat things.
Armour actually does quite a lot against explosives, from my experience heavy armour is practically mandatory if you're using the grenade launcher.
