The Old Font

Way back around the days of release, EYE had a dramatically different font face for most of its UI. Nowadays, it's all bland, boring Tahoma.

I've been doing some personal mods to breathe some style back into the interface, but it all feels wrong without the original typeface. I found one that's highly similar in the game files, but it's got "EYE" with the backwards E crammed in where it doesn't belong.

Does anyone have the original font kicking around somewhere?

There's a zipped up install of EYE v1.00 kicking around somewhere, I know exactly what you mean.
eye_title_1.ttf is still in the game install but seems unused, eye_vgui_1.ttf is probably what you want but the file is no longer present in v1.13

Because the v1.13 version added PVP, this being a HL2 mod, all the killfeed icons are baked into the font. This will take some hand fittment with a font editing tool to work properly.

I'm not too fussed about this. I'm fairly certain I've narrowed down where specific fonts are used in the UI, so I should be able to apply it surgically. Failing that, I'm not personally a PVP person, so I don't think it'll matter too much for me.

With Jack's help, I was able to get the old font face working in-game. Without further ado, here is a quick zip of the files needed to restore it, if anyone wants it.

I did a few small singleplayer tests, and everything looked correct in-game. I don't yet know if this is functional in multiplayer, so use at your own risk.

I also uploaded my prior personal mod for the typefaces. I'm discontinuing it for now, since it was originally meant to emulate the old font, but I figure someone might get some use out of it.

As before, no guarantees that it'll work flawlessly. Some text gets cut off in some places, and I had to resort to default Tahoma in a few noteworthy places for readability's sake.

And thanks again for the help, Jack. I'd gone into this expecting this was one of those "too niche for anybody to care" issues. I'm glad I was wrong.
