How do I open it? I tried it with the ~ key, but it doesn't work. I have a german keyboard, so maybe it's an issue with the layout, could anyone please help?

you have to enable it in advanced options. Options -> Keyboard -> Advanced and check the "Enable Develepoer console" box.

Different keyboard layout shouldnt be a problem if the system treats it like it should (any issues with wrong characters being written while typing etc?)

I already enabled it.

And yes, I often have issues with the z and y key, because in german their position is switched around.

Got the same problem. "~" key doesn't open anything and after changing the binding in the config the console still doesn't open

Something something the Alt Gr key exists and possibly does something

A more positively effective solution is to launch the game with -console, then use the "bind" console command to rebind "toggleconsole" to whatever key your heart desires

Apparently Alt + N or Alt Gr + N is tilde on a german layout

yeah for me its altGr 2 but it doesnt function in game, having it open automatically on esc menu works well enough
