Heater Core glitch
I'm pretty sure this is a glitch, as I went across many guides and none of them mentioned anything on the matter, after the first Heater Core robot, I find myself hardlocked as the room I am required to go in is locked (from the other side), you can see it in this screenshot:

This is my second playthrough btw, I don't remember anything like this happening in the first one, but I'll let you know saving and reloading keeps the barrier lowered, thus the run is hardlocked for me

Was coming here to post this. Got soft-locked in the same way as shown here.

Have played through the game multiple times in past years and didn't experience this on any of those playthroughs, so possibly a newer bug. Didn't skip anything to get to Heater Core -- was playing the game normally and got both Rocket and Spin Jump, and completed Aqueducts first.

Essentially, I killed the two enemies that open that door on the way in, but they respawned when I was coming back to the room. I didn't die or reload at all between visits.

So, I ended up getting out of this softlock by changing my save file's save point to the one before the room with two enemies that opens the gate. Big shoutout to the guide that showed how to edit save files for that: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1797446608

If you end up needing to do the same, you'll want to quit to title, open File Explorer and, in the address bar, type "%appdata%" (without quotes) and press Enter. Go up one directory, then go into "Local" -> "GatoRoboto_patch_1_1" -> "default".

The saves are numbered from left to right, pick the one that's locked at the save by Furnace fight. Open it in Notepad, and you'll want to change the values below. (Changing values will mean finding the string on the left in the open file, and changing the value for it to what's on the right; e.g., when you see "room_start": "xxxx", etc.)

"map_start": "map3" (should already be set)
"room_start": "0717"
"spawn_x": "160"
"spawn_y": "134.50"

Once you've changed those, save the file that's open in Notepad and close Notepad, then go back to the game and load that save. You should be good to go!
