If denuvo was the problem wouldn't the Uplay version also stutter? Also if that was the case, starting steam offline wouldn't change anything.

regardless of what setting I use in game, i'm not sure the beta was available on steam, but I played it directly on the uplay client and I was able to play without issues with everything maxed out then

I'm sorry that the game has suddenly started crashing. Can you please verify the game files and test again:

1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
2. From the
Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
