But holy ♥♥♥♥♥, how is Ubisoft Connect still THIS bad. I've avoided any of their new games for years because of how terrible it is, but finally figured for $6 I could endure...
I can't, their payment system doesn't accept my jurisdiction / form of payment, even though I am part of Britain. This has been an ongoing issue for me for many years. I have to trick their servers using VPNs to make a purchase and I am fed up of doing that. You couldn't make up how lame this company has become. They don't listen to you either when you tell them about a problem ... they assume you are dumb.
I'm sorry to hear that you had issues accessing Anno 1800 (or other titles) due to being asked for an activation key you did not receive.
Most Ubisoft games purchased on Steam do not require an activation key.
A digital licence is pushed to your Ubisoft account when you launch the game in Steam for the first time, and link it to the Ubisoft account.
Once activated this way, the game cannot be activated on another Ubisoft account.
If you are asked for an activation key, it means Ubisoft Connect cannot process the Steam licence correctly.
If this happens, start with clearing Ubisoft Connect Cache[www.ubisoft.com].
Run Ubisoft Connect and Steam launchers with administrator rights[www.ubisoft.com].
Further steps involve installing or re-installing Ubisoft Connect PC. [www.ubisoft.com]
Try installing it to your system C drive.
Sometimes you will need to close Ubisoft Connect completely (not just minimise it to the system tray) and then launch the game from Steam, for accounts to link correctly.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Do any Ubisoft decision makers ever peruse the Steam message boards or reviews of their games and see the majority of negativity is always surrounding their priority authenticator? That every one of their games that uses it could rise at least one level in review aggregate (from Mixed to Mostly Positive, for example) if they jettisoned it?
I'm genuinely confuzzled as to how this has gone on as long as it has. Are shareholders aware of the negligence?
