Sorry to hear that you had issues accessing Anno 1800 due to being asked for an activation key you did not receive.
Most Ubisoft games purchased on Steam do not require an activation key.
A digital licence is pushed to your Ubisoft account when you launch the game in Steam for the first time, and link it to the Ubisoft account.
Once activated this way, the game cannot be activated on another Ubisoft account.
If you are asked for an activation key, it means Ubisoft Connect cannot process the Steam licence correctly.
If this happens, start with clearing Ubisoft Connect Cache[www.ubisoft.com].
Run Ubisoft Connect and Steam launchers with administrator rights[www.ubisoft.com].
Further steps involve installing or re-installing Ubisoft Connect PC. [www.ubisoft.com]
Try installing it to your system C drive.
Sometimes you will need to close Ubisoft Connect completely (not just minimise it to the system tray) and then launch the game from Steam, for accounts to link correctly.
Let us know if you have any further questions.
