It's better off to play other type of game, now, if they had console Anno 1800, that might be work, but PC version Anno 1800 is not very comfortable to play on steam deck, I forgot how I got it work, you could google it, I did that long time ago, and believe me, it's not fun to play PC version Anno 1800 on Steam deck, I tried that and sad, it's not fun to play on steam deck.
You can keep trying, I know I did in the past,
Basic you add Ubisoft Launcher add non game to steam, then allowed proton version, I forgot whole detail, I did manage before that, and it's work, it's just not felt fun and comfortable to doing that, that is big issues.
So if I want to play anno 1800, I had to use PC, it's much more comfort and fun, even though I do want to play on steam deck for travel or at work playing anno 1800, it's work but not play fun.
