I've taken note of your report, and I'm sorry to hear that this view Issue impacted your experience in Anno 1800 !
In order to isolate the problem, I invite you to let us know the following :
- Are there any mods active on the affected save ?
- If an earlier save is available to reload, does the problem happen again ?
- If not, does the Issue happen again after starting a new save ?
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to share additional details, or if there's anything else we can help you with !

To answer the questions,
1, I don't use mods.
2, didn't find an earlier save.
3, I've yet to test it on a new save, since I've being playing in creative mode after that and didn't see that quest giver in said game mode.
Also I did notice after Princess Qing settled her island, she soon settled another island in the New World without asking permission; at the time, I have already settled 3 islands in the New World before her.
Thanks for the details !
For the purpose of our investigation, can you let us know as soon as you've tested in a new save in the affected game mode ?
This will help check if it was an isolated incident, or if this happens every time with this particular quest giver, which will help determine the best possible solutions.

Hi! An update,
I encountered 3 different quest givers today, and they all exhibit the same issue. None of them let me exit 1st person view after receiving their quests.
Screenshot of the quest givers:

And this is all done in the old Creative game mode save I've started after the Update.
In the end I have to press F1 and go into postcard view first then press Esc to get out.
And when I go into 1st person view again, the old quest giver disappeared, and sometimes a new one would spawn.
Also I couldn't find an earlier save since a few auto-saves happened when I tested it out.
I was only able to test recently, but it worked! Thanks!
I guess was defaulting everything to Esc key. Although I am curious why Esc key doesn't work after receiving quest?
Glad to hear your issue seems to be resolved with that combination of buttons, :) thank you for letting us know!
I'm not completely certain myself about the Esc key point you described, it could be that some quest types have some keys assigned in different ways depending on how the quest functions overall.
If you encounter anything else you need help with, feel free to let us know!
