It only works if you click on the iron mines, not on the other ones.
I also never see any red arc or circled mines at all with my sonar. I can however see the mines floating when I zoom in and I can avoid them. Without the sonar you cant see the mines at all. If there is suppose to be any further indicator of mines, that doesnt work.
The quest does however work and I can get the reward.
Thank you for posting your response. I agree with what your saying that the quest does work, but there has always been a red arc as you got closer to the objective and then the mines were circled in red. I posted this "problem" a while back and as I've stated the Developers responded asking for a screen shot or video. I confess I do not know how to comply with their request. They eventually dropped my post. Now if the red arc and circles are no longer part of the quest, fine, but they could have at least told me that. I have asked the question on the other pages but have never found that it is no longer active.
If you know how to post a screen shot or video please do so to the attention of the Developers.
So far you are the only one who has acknowledged what I think is a bug.
Thanks for that.
No indication of where the area was.
No Red Danger arc when I did find it.
When I got closer the item was surrounded by mines, must have been 10 mines in a one inch area and absolutely no way to avoid them. Blew up my Scavenger.
Now I just delete the request from Old Nate.
1) Turn radar on and travel east. The mined dive spot was to the far east edge of the map for me. Yellow radar quest finders vary in detection distance, but head that way and you should start seeing it.
2) I found no way to remove the protecting mines, but if you are very careful you'll find the dive bell radius is larger than the mine detonation radius. You can creep up and gather the quest item with out exploding. Careful not to sail through the mines as you leave.
Hope this helps!
The mine is right on top of the diving area. Move to the edge of the area until the diving action is enabled.
My problem however was that each time I got this quest (or similar one), the mine is ALWAYS exactly on top of the mission objective. Luckily I found out that the mortar trick works here (when I was looking for the solution some guys here had problems with Merciers mines :) ), so I have one extra ship with mortar always in Cape Trelawney.
