How do I lay out train tracks?
I keep getting "train delayed" issues over my electricity and oil harbor buildings. should I build a loop instead of direct lines?

You should build infrastructure that allow trains to travel both ways. If it's one long line trains won't be able to travel because they need to wait for other to finish route.

i personally try to lay parallel tracks whenever possible

i double lines as much as possible and i upgrade my harbour to receive more trains. Now, personnaly, i can't manage to deal with the oil one the main island of Cape Trelawney, that is far too way from any beach, making the delay awful

Sorry for the somewhat necro post, but in response to what Himiko wrote as I am playing the Trelawney island proper for the first time, but I think the biggest issue isn't that it's so deep, but it's only 4 wells, and you need 3 wells per power plant from what I can tell. Anyway, the depth isn't a very big issue even if you placed your living quarters close to the beach areas like I did in this game. I think the best thing you can do in managing how to plan your tracks is to play them in a loop around your island, and ideally do double tracks as well, as double tracks work wonders.

Anno 1800 Trains dont swing that way.
They are timed. They got a countdown between 2 trains.

If you optimze your Tracks in order of shortes way possible you will simply end up with less trains actually driving around. Even tho there is Oil in the Habor and none in the powerplant you might end up with 4 siting trains in the depot depending on how short your Railroad system is.

If you want all trains to move around at the same time you have to expand your railroad system and this wont solve your Problem at all since now the trains need more time on their ways and maybe carry more oil within them since they got unlimited storage capazity but your powerplant can only store 100 and this will never be enough in your case.

To actually solve or almost solve your problem you need to increase your powerplants capability by using a TradeUnion building for it and decrease its oil consumption rate

The 3 Items you need are:

1: Hall of Collective Property Effects (Uncommon (green Item))
Productivity: -10%
Maintenance Cost: -15%

Yes it DECREASES Productivity this is important so the 100 Oil in your powerplant will tic down slower means your capazity is increased by 10% up to 110 Oil in your Powerplant. This one also needs the "The Anarchist" DLC you dont need him in your game you can just research the item in your Univerity.

2: Magnetist (Uncommon)
Occasionally produces extra Oil every 5th cycle
You powerplant will now reproduce 20% of the 100 Oil while using it

3: Leading Electrical Engineer (Rare (blue Item))
Occasionally produces extra Oil every 3rd cycle
Combined with the Magnetist your plant will now reproduce 53% of the 100 while using it.

All 3 combined and the plant will end up with a theroatical 163 Oil Storage. ofc it wont show that it will just tic slower und every 3. and 5. tic it will get 1 Oil back.

I know it sucks to build a Trade union for each or every two powerplants but that is the only option.
For fuel station and oil refinery just build another one right next to it so it increases the storage from 50 (FuelS) / 200 (OilR) to 2 times 50 /200 it realy is that simpel and dont worry about the "longer" way you also wont suffer a productivity loss by using 2 oil refinery for like 7 Dwells instead of one you just need more work force and money ofc.

But i doubt you will ever encounter that Probplem where your oil refinery is sitting on 200 Oil and your trains are to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lazy to come and pick it up although the Habor is nearly empty. I did.

Thats how i figured out the trains must be timed. by having a oil refinery running at 5500% Productivity with 20 wells and yes Oil goes brrrrrrrrt.
I had to use 4 oil refinery for those 20 wells so each only goes with 1325% and the total combined storage of their oil is 800 instead of 200

This is the kind of ♥♥♥♥ you have to deal with in this Anno.

And also always make sure that the rate in which your Oil Habor is recieving its Oil from all sources combined is still higher than the rate for buildings /ships using the Oil.

Also Gas Powerplants got a terrible rate at consumption you need 6 gas wells for 1 Powerplant. there are maybe like 20 wells in the whole artics Map. Do the math.
"Game changer" my ass. I got like 40 Powerplants in my Save how do 3 Gas plants change my game?

Old post but hoping it triggers a notice: @Black_Warhawk I'm having this same issue. I moved all my wells to one refinery with the researchers and now it's just sitting there full. While the harbor drains. Had 22 on with items now I made it 2 with 11 each but it still just sits there full while the island storage has like 2,000 empty storage space. x.x
I changed it to 3 and it's "better" only from the train now taking all 600 oil all around my island by itself to drop off 20-30 oil at each fuel station...

Sometimes a 2nd train will go, but there's no point in having 7 trains as they never get used. -.-

I'd love them to just patch in a "assignment" system where you could tell one of the trains to only "service" a set number of buildings. Ideally by freely clicking on them, but even by type would be lovely. So could be like train 6/7 you're sole job in life is to run back and forth to the oil refinery and the harbor. The others can feed the power / fuel plants as needed.

I'm making 210 oil a minute but still bleeding it from the game just not pickig it up. It just keeps sending one train to load it all up then run around my island dropping off handfulls.

I have all double track with some cross overs just for fun, so that's not an issue even.

Or even baring a selectable train setting just update the code to have the oil refinery request a train once full. With idle trains taking priority. Something! :kritika_grr:

Hey LizBizzz,

Sorry to hear it you experience an issue with trains efficiency in Anno 1800.

I would advise you to submit all this information, back it up with some screenshots and video footage of your town and submit it via a support ticket - Contact Us[www.ubisoft.com]

Keep is mind such issues may be tricky to reproduce as it would require recreating a player's local economy and town organisation.
