Market Research - optional quest

I'm seemingly stuck with not being able to complete the "Market Research: The Lab" quest. The task is to "Upgrade an Engineer Residence into a skyscraper" on one of my islands. I've done this many times, and the quest isn't being marked as completed. Any ideas?

Hey - I had the same problem. I would ignore the quest, but it blocked the patents from arcade shop from unlocking. I tried deleting all skyscrapers and building a new engineer one but it didn't work. What did work was when I destroyed the island the quest referred to - it got automatically cancelled and the patents unlocked.

You have to upgrade an engineer residence next to a gazebo plaza (Hint is placed in the quest details)

Hey Expat, Lupin, and Mboots - thanks for your posts about this!

We've identified an issue with this, and we're looking to get it resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, as a workaround, make sure you are upgrading your engineers' residences in to skyscrapers one by one - just one residence at a time - and that should cause the quest to correctly complete.

Let me know if that workaround works for you or not. Sorry for the inconvenience while we get this sorted out.

Just try it following the instructions, it doesn't work. I have only one engineer skyscraper when the quest is announced, I move the build next to it away and build the gazebo garden from Investor ornament menu. After fulfillment of the needs and full population, I make the upgrade. No Market research Lab ! Just an upgrade to a regular engineer skyscraper. Quest not complete.

I had this same problem, built the gazebo plaza next to an engineer residence and then upgraded it to a skyscraper, but didn't work at first. I placed engineer residences all around the Gazebo Plaza and started upgrading them one by one, from the residence menu and it worked with the third one I upgraded.

I can confirm that is a workaround. Have multiple engineering residences touching a gazebo, and upgrade them one by one until it unlocks. Takes more than one skyscraper to work.

Same issue after the latest patch, but the spamming pavilions and upgrading houses worked.

Yes the workaround is good.

I struggled with this also but I was upgrading investors to skyscrapers not engineers once that was done it went to next quest.
