Escort with Battlecruiser is dumb. Please fix it.

Okay. So i have Battle Cruisers built and i want to really use them for Escorting other vessels.
But there is some HUGE drawbacks by using them.

First of all. For some reason you made so they slow down insanely when they shoot at anything and that makes them unable to follow an escort.

Second they completely stop when firering and then first starts to move again once they are out of range. Here comes the first one in. Its in combat and is slowed so it can barely follow. And not at all catch up to the ship its escorting properly. Even if that ship got away. You are completely slowed until you are done with combat.
Goodluck trying to say f these ships and just sail to your escord ignoring the enemy ship so you can properly protect it.

Please fix that. Stop the slowdown and please do so the ship doesnt completely stop during an Escort.

A second thing i wanna mention here is that i would like a ship stance which is shoot but dont move.
Right now passive and active defence both makes the ships chase and move towards targets. Even sometimes for long distances for both where i had my ships bieng leaded into enemy heavily armed harbor defences to get killed.

Update: I have some ship-of-the-lines which i realised when escorting they keep following hostiles to no worlds end. Leaving the ships thats supposed to be escorted alone.

Why does the ship not return to the ship its supposed to escort once the enemy ships are far enough away? It just keeps chasing.

The mode i the ships on is both Passive and Active Defence. Same happens with both. Is this a bug or programming error?

This has something to do with escorting mode. I don't know much else. Did you play 2070? It might be easier to figure out how escorting worked there.

No. I played Anno 1404. But no matter what mechanics from another game. The way it is in this game is stupid and its a problem.

First select the ship you want Escorting. Then right click the ship you want it to Escort.
