spice it up mod - trade union range
Hi
I m currently testing some mods, like the Spice it Up one. I ve noticed that the range of the trade union has considerably increased from the original one, which is a problem for me. I found the command line in the assets but I don't know what is the basic range value
If somebody knows...thanks in advance

As per fandom the standard range is 15.

Hello,
that is better to put the mods where trade union and towns'hall covert all the full island like Anno 1404....
You will see quickly the difference ^^

That'd be too powerful IMO especially for trade unions. Though wouldn't mind for town halls as those are a bit tedious to place and get residents in range and I'd limit myself to just one town hall per island.

This can be useful and not over powered.

Thanks for the answers guys - I will try to reduce the radius to 15, currently with this mod it is 30. I m using the classics nexus mods but the mini trade union can be great on very small islands so why not switch to mod.io

Any idea how I can remove this mod.io from my game as I'm now getting game crashes after installing it.

I've gone back to the mod page, clicked subscribe again to show as if it shouldn't be subscribed now but on starting Anno, I'm only getting a few minutes of game play then a crash to desktop.

Thanks

@The post above. (for some lame reason steam censors the name!) unfortunately many mods alter files and settings in a way that cannot be undone, this will usually result in a crash or render a save useless if you remove the mod/asset concerned.
Many mod makers try to inform the mod user if this is likely to be a problem, however the description given by many mods on the mod.io are either missing or totally vague.

Hmm. Looks like I need to do a full Steam uninstall and reinstall. Game crashes a couple of minutes after loading, without any input from me.

spice it up
comes with many mods that I do not use or mod myself the "assets.xml"
I also do not use trade union from Spice it up.

Yet because this post I found this:

"Range and Slot increase"
https://www.nexusmods.com/anno1800/mods/86?tab=description

With:
"Trade Union: Radius is increased to 120 and slots to 24.
Town Hall: Radius is increased to 120 and slots to 12.
Harbourmasters Office: Radius is increased to 50 and slots to 12."

NOW !
Radius is far to big for my play stile.

So,
You can also modify the values (in any and all mods) to your preference !

Found in
C:\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Anno 1800\mods\ " the mod you want to modify " \config\export\main\asset
open:
"assets.xml"

find the "radius" values:
<SocketScopeRadius>"value"</SocketScopeRadius>

and
change the value to 10 for instance ... or to 15.
save "assets.xml"; Start game. see if new values are to your liking.
mod them accordingly.
Enjoy !

in the "Spice it up" find the "trade union" mod and in its "assets.xml"
change its values, and will also will look like:
<SocketScopeRadius> ... </SocketScopeRadius>

hope it helps!

Thank you @Aegyssus- i also think that a too big radius is more a problem than an advantage, especially on small islands...and 24 slots :D
The spice it up mod is interesting but way to generalist, I ll give a chance to the mod.io manager...I don't know however if it automatically update mods like the steam workshop, which can be more convenient than using nexus mods.

No idea about mod.io manager.
And as one can see, I do not have Anno 1800 on steam, just on Ubisoft.

All my mods are personalized and with a double back-up just in case.

And that is the reason I prefer Nexus:
- it gives the "raw" files that are "as is", with no fear of automatic-updates so to speak...

Learned the hard way ...

Happy Gaming !

I tried just starting a new game and so far after 3 or 4 hours of game play, no crash to desktop :)

I found a mod somewhere on nexusmods that have a different kind of trade union (and town hall and harbor office): you start with a small radius (10 tiles?) and can then upgrade the building to increase the radius by (I think) 5 tiles. You can upgrade each of these buildings 4 times, resulting in the 30-tile radius.

Even better: When placing TUs/THs/HOs, you obviously cannot have their radiuses overlap. But this check does not happen when you upgrade an already existing building. Which means that, yes, you can have several different Trade Unions affect the same area. Clipping bug², so to speak.
(Personally, I don't like to have the same buildings affected by several versions of the same items - but I don't mind having a little overlap for my animal farming area and my food farming areas where the effects of one TU don't affect the buildings from the other area.)

Interesting - can you tell me the name of that mod? I can't find anything like that on nexus

That's what I did and at first it worked perfectly. But after the trade union buff from the palace kicks in, the old radius showed up again and now I have two circles while the inner affects the buildings as edited from the trade uniun and the outer additionally applies the palace bonuses from the Department of Labour. Any idea, how this palace bonus must be edited to align with the inner circle radius?
