Is there a way to reduce pollution without turning off industry buildings?
Sick of my people complaining about not being able to breathe. Can I plant more trees or something? Surely there are other ways to offset it?

Hello,
Yes , there is somes items to decrease pollution to put in a trade union...
But to make more attractiveness for the main island to have more tourists and make more money ,obtein better specialists ...
The best advice was to delocate the polluting production chains on another island...
the island in the south for the CAP for exemple ^^

It's not that bad :) it was around the time I was ready to start using electricity I established a production only island. My main island didn't have much room to place rail tracks nor room for any new production.

Be prepared, if you play long enough and with high population, that you may have to move again heh.

At some point, I had a beer island, canned foods island, and a other production island. My beer island moved again, my canned foods island moved again and my other production island split to like 3 islands heh.

I usually move most industries as soon as I have the commuter pier available. At that point you don't even have too many of each and getting electricity and tractors is a good reason to rearrange everything anyway, so it isn't necessarily more complicated to do that on different islands, on the contrary, there's so much empty space to really plan stuff out. I usually have an island for agriculture and food/drink factories and one for non food and materials. In my current playthrough I even dedicated one island to scholar and tourist wares. Once I'll start building high rises I might put all the other chemical plants there too. It's nice to have it all seperated by categories like this.

I agree. The hard part is discovering what categories to do islands. I've changed my production locations a couple of times.

I like my current setup in old world which is:

Pig island also with the canned food trade union item that process pig instead of goulash.

Grain island, so beer and bread and it's doing some coffee or rum, I forget which.

Clothing island.

Dario and Bruno island so production buildings those specialists affect. These specialists were really the key for me starting out on how to setup islands based on categories.

An orchard island.

And then everything else island. Though I still do schnapps on my first main island.

In Cape I did a tourist production island and an investor demand production island (not all my Dario and Bruno island still supports Crown Falls) since Crown Falls is loaded with tourists and investors.

Though I wouldn't do all that until I have the influence and research unlocked to utilize trade unions.
