how to get steel in the new world

I was going to settle another island, but I need steel, and there are no Iron stations in la isla that i can find. what am i missing?

You will need to bring steel beams from other regions with ships as you cannot make them in the new world.

Also get used to this, since you'll be doing a lot of shipping of stuff between regions. It's a core part of the game that you can't make everything everywhere.
