Ships are getting stuck at piers for quite some time while there is free piers..?
I got around 20 ships traveling routes between islands I got 10 piers but still somehow my ships become inactive for a long time, longer than the loading goods/sec and there is always piers open so its not like there is a waiting queue... i'm clueless

iIs this a bottleneck in the code? I even tried to move my piers in different positions, spread them out so the ships don't run into eachother but it didnt have any effect

My income was 40k and now its gone down to 14k because the ships get stuck in my harbour.

Check the settings you have for loading the ships as you may have set up certain restrictions as you can see here:

https://anno1800.fandom.com/wiki/Trade_routes#Special_options

Two of those can cause major backups and usually are not worth using any of these options unless you are doing something special.

As for them not going to other piers are the piers on other parts of the island?

They will default to a set location and you will need to adjust their pathing for them in the trade route menu to use other harbors if this is the case.

Thanks for your comment.

I haven't touched any of the special options. I think its set to wait for goods.

I got 4 piers on the left of my trading post warehouse and 5 on the right side, they are all lined up. Sometimes they end up in a queue on the rightside rather than taking an open pier on the left..

If you have "Wait for goods" selected then disable that as they will stay at the piers until the inventory slots you have for that good are full and if your warehouse does not have enough of that good when it arrives it will stay until it fills the slots.

Be default none of those options should be enabled so if you never did that then something else is happening

In order for them to use another harbor on the same island you may need to change their pathing routes as you can see here:

https://anno1800.fandom.com/wiki/Trade_routes#Region_map

Each path contains a waypoint pin, or entry to the region pin, which placement can be adjusted to change the ship's pathing.

Without doing that they will stop at the closest harbor on the default pathing they have and if you have many ships meeting up at the same harbor at the same time this can cause issues.

You do get ways to increase loading speeds either for the piers themselves or for ship items but if it's not a loading speed issue like you believe something else is causing problems.

Also remember that loading time is not something you really see on it's own since as soon as a ship reaches a loading dock the resources are traded instantly but the game will then take the time to delay the ship there based on how much it traded and the loading speed of the pier.

Also if you have the "Land of Lions" dlc you can also get a advanced pier that can be used to restrict what ships will use it.

Consider unloading ships from other regions onto an island closer to their entry point and then a shuttle to the desired location.
There are some items you can equip a Harbor Master with to help speed up unloading but not a lot.
There are also items you can equip your ships with to speed unloading times.
As mentioned make sure you do not have any ships set to "wait for goods"

Dockland piers or advanced piers are faster... Docklands has a module that speeds up loading.... There is also a lady item you can add to your harbormaster office that add 30 percent to every pier..And add unload speed items to your ships...

As you advance the basic piers are not good enough...

Yes but the unloading docks only give 10% extra speed so u'll need a ton of them + a ton of fuel to keep em up, personally I don't find them that effective.

I just bought some perks for my ships that give 45% extra loading speed -5% sell fee
