New Horizon Mod crashing out on large populations / high RAM usage
Hey Taub.g.f and NHorz devs,

Im not on discord so Ill just throw it down here.

I tried to introduce the mod (New Horizons) into my current save and it seemingly worked.
- Had a crash initially on the opening cinematic for Horai which uninstalled and deactivated the mod on next entry (had to dl again and unzip).
- After reactivation, dl and unzip I loaded my save and it loaded in again. I was watching my resource allocation on Task Manager and both CPU and RAM were spiking up to 95-97%.
- Base game requires only 8gig base, I have a GTX t1070
- When I went to save - so that I hopefuly wouldnt get a hard deactivation on the mod if the cinematic failed - it informed me there was no ram left! 15Gig SSD left on the os drive, big page file aswell. It crashed when I tried to save.
- I had actually cleaned up my processes before this (hard shutdown on edge and unneeded windows services) so Anno 1800 and the mod had all the love. No joy!
- To be clear this was a windows popup informing there was no available ram allocation I will screenshot next time and add it here.

Not sure if there was a heap of testing with big populations, My Old world has 80k population, the game was running fine with that. FYI, Ill play around some more, but i might need to turn the graphics down to save performance and raw ram.

I don‘t think the crashes are related to population, as i had 1.3 million population and the mod worked.
Only thing is the population (esp. Investors) decreased by a lot (300k), i guess due to unfulfilled new needs.

Fair enough, might just be the 8 gig of ram. I have some other mods - Jakobs mostly - maybe the combination is just eating up too much ram and teh graphics have to be turned down. Ill try.
Yeah, the mod is indeed quite big. (good that i‘ve increased RAM to 64GB cause of heavily modded Cities Skylines).

Maybe the issue was that a mod has been updated while you installed it.

There is also now available an update and bugfix mod for new horizons, maybe this will help you.

I got both the initial release with the 7 or so dependencies and then saw, yes, that the dependencies had been removed inside the mod and now only 1 is needed. I have not tried again yet today but Ill recheck the mod.io page and just turn the graphics downas a first step. Yes 64gig of ram will help!

So on 3rd attempt at reactivate, re-dl, re-unzip and load of a save game, with settings now all turned down to medium, there was no change in the RAM allocation (8 gig base) at 97%.

This time the load up of the game (80k population) crashed before I could attempt a save game.

You may want to mention that min and recommended specs on the base game MAY NOT be enough. I do run the base game with some mods just fine but New Horizons is suffering from the aforementioned issues.
