DO NOT BUY
It will be six dollars wasted. Ubisoft pulled Anno 1404 and the expansion from Steam to sell it in their Ubisoft store, rendering it impossible for my friends to buy it to play with me. They left me with a $30 brick

Throw your six dollars away if you want, this game will be pulled from Steam and you will not be able to play with friends when Ubisoft goes under. The company is failing

To Ubisoft:

You thought you could get away with it. You thought you could just rip your customers off forever and they'd take it because they were custies sucking that sweet Assassin's Creed teat. Well you messed up. Where are you now? Your company is floundering.

You thought you could get away with stealing $30 from me. Was it worth it? Now that this thread is here in your forum when your company is going under and you are desperately selling your trash remakes for six dollars, now that your developers are getting laid off and standing in the unemployment lines. Now you pay for stealing my $30

Did purchase the game just because of you, bro.

Is this what you are looking for?
Yes this is the one, I own it on steam, have it installed and have never removed it since back when I bought it, still have the save game files and everything. And yet after a few years without opening it, then going back to give it a whirl again, I was hit with a prompt to log in to my ubisoft account.

My what? I was a bit confused, having never opened the game for 2 or 3 years I thought maybe I'd just forgotten something. I searched 20+ years of email history for anything from ubisoft, trying recovery emails with all my email addresses and found that no, I do not have and have never had a Ubisoft account.

So yes, this is the exact edition I have, and could open and play just fine when it launched, and yet somehow now I am unable to access the same content, having never changed a single thing on my device other than whatever steam randomly decided to download from Ubisoft one day.

Needless to say, this is the only Ubisoft game I own.

All the Ubi games I've bought are on UPlay. The current listings show it's required, I bought Driver: San Francisco on Steam long ago, it was delisted in 2013 and it still shows up both places, though only playable with their launcher. I don't remember playing them offline, Ubisoft went to "always online" a long time ago.
hi,
I'm lucky that I have the 1404 game, not the history edition, and can play it comfortably without having to use the launcher.
So I can play it just via steam.

I'm happy
I was think about it then looked at the DLC list and their prices...lol...get bent Ubi...what a ♥♥♥♥ company.
Yes, it's always something isn't it, if it's not poor performance it's the price of the game or its because it has a launcher or its because it has denuvo or its because the price of the DLC is too expensive or its because someone thinks the art style is disgusting. Give it a rest people. Nobody but yourselves cares that you won't buy a game.

It's like a broken record.

Yeah I just took 1404 (or in my case its called Dawn of Discovery Venice) for a spin,m first time in many years and it was fun. Shame more people didn't get it before it was removed from sale on Steam but hey people can buy the History edition and have old time fun, before the game started trying to overload with daisy chains.

I care. And those are all legitimate gripes. Maybe you're the one who should be giving it a rest...
