How to determine Production Cost
How to I calculate/determine the exact production cost in dollars/coins to produce any one item?

For example, I can tell from watching videos and practice that producing Soap and selling to Eli is very profitable. But I don't know exactly how profitable?

384 - x = profit

What is X?

I'd love to know that for each item in the game so that I can see which items are profitable to produce and which ones are not.

So 384 is what Eli offers for 1t soap, and the standard production chain takes 280 coins/minute to make 2t/minute (no specialist/working conditions). You just add up the cost of 2 pigs farm, 2 rendering works and the soap factory

You have to multiply that by the time your ship takes to do the back and forth I guess, but anyway the answer is pretty profitable

But anyway usually the profitability for consumer goods is calculated in respect to what your people pay for consuming them, not what they yield to merchants

For instance each artisan residence gives +15 coins/minute for sewing machines, but the sewing machine factory takes 500 maintenance/minute to work, so you need 500/15 = more than 33 residences to make a profit for it

This might be interesting for you too.

And if you are really interested into profitable late Game Soap production,
then have a look at this as well.

Happy Soaping :)
production facility maintenance (both raw materials and produced good) divided by output. let's say 2 pig farms (20 each), 2 rendering works (40 each) and one soap production facility (60) = 180 dollars a minute. it produces 2 ton soap a minute so let's divide that and you get a 90 dollar price of production per soap.

294 dollars net gain per ton of soap sold
