engineers
im getting really frustrated, i cant make it to engineers without going bankrupt. i got some help yesterday that helped for a bit but now am back in the red by 5k. have done this a dozen time now and i feel like a friggn mental patient. i just cant get my supply lines right. i restart thinking i have it figured and am going to keep them tight and clean but by the time i hit engineers they are a frggn shambles and i cant fix them. do i clear all routes this late game and try reset them/ but it takes so long everything implodes while im doing it. i have a fighting force to be reckoned with but its not making me any money. i cant figure out directly whats causing the deficit but i think its me trying to go electric

You need a excess amount of workers and engineers that are happy, and do not build anymore than you have to. Easier said than done I know, but that's how it is.

Ships are expensive in maintenance cost so unless you absolutely need them, not worth having. Flame Turrets pretty much kill anything that isn't a pre-dreadnought cruiser in this game.

i have so many because my trade ships kept getting taken out which messed my routes up worse than they already are lol

Make sure you are using specialist in your trade unions. I keep an empty ship parked at the prison and buy up the rare specialist when they come along. Especially ones that provide extra good or replace input goods. There is one that sets the cannery to use only pigs and iron, another allows bakery to use wheat instead of flour. If you are selling those ship of the lines, you will be gaining some influence points to buy the unions.

Trade unions are also very helpful. Good specialist can provide required goods to their effect area which reduce the amount you need to produce while others will boost that income.

Use the statistics window.
Also large military fleets are for wiping out rivals but if you aren't going to do that, then peace treaties are far cheaper.

have spent the last hour n a half going thru my routes and working my stats window, have got it to fluctuate into the green by 500 but peaks at 5k in the red. im still struggling. spent good time building enough farms to supply what they need but hasn't fixed supply even working with the stat window. haven't got rid of my fleets yet as pirates and btch lady are just out of war, trying to get them to treaties. i appreciate your and everyones help. love the game and want to figure this out.

Do you have the Lands of the Lion dlc?

Cuz you can just use one ship to buy pocket watches at archibalds and sell them in the desert, easy 4k profit per watch

These may help you. Taka runs great in-depth tutorials. I have 400+ hrs in this game and still learn stuff everyday.

This one helps with your money fluctuation issue.

This one will really help you to understand/calculate needs for transporting between islands.

Not sure if you know this, seems many don't, but you can change the name of islands. You go to an island and click on it's name at the top of the screen. I keep the name but add 1, 2, 3, etc so when setting up a route name I say 1-2 or 1-Sell, etc.

ok so i got things stable, managed to get the lady pirate and beryl on trade agreements. sold my military force as even guy pirate isnt enemy anymore, then all of a sudden beryl declares war out of the blue. like WTF. is the ai designed to make people suicidle lmao. im so fckn angry i sold my ships of the line. now i have to scramble to protect my trade routes. alter the trade routes that pass thru her territory and rebuid a fckng fleet that i sold at half price to get influence, influence of which i now have none. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHGHHHh
fml. fmfl. feel like i have waisted to days.

Welcome to Anno. All is going well until it isn't.

You need a base work force. Once that's strong you more up to Engineers. If you rush you end up without enough workers to make the goods because you upgraded them to higher tiers.

No one it left to make the beer so to speak.

I find Anno quite easy if you build a strong base. Now if you start on a small island and you jacked up the hardness it can get nasty. But even then, you can rush it. Get each island setup. Which means defense too.

Rushing island to island where you can defend you ground you lose.

The AI will just come in behind you are take it back.
