Please: How to convert MP game to SP?

I am playing now alone in MP, I want to continue to play this game in SP, so I can fast forward the game.
There is supposed to be a tool on github, but it is not working for me or I am doing something wrong.

If you played in multiplayer coop mode, i.e. everyone sharing one player, then you should be able to just load the savegame in singleplayer and continue play normally.
If you played with separate players for everyone, then this won't be possible.

Afaik this only works if you are the one who has started the MP game in the first place.
My current SP was initial an MP that i started, the other players have been replaced by AI.
