Steam Deck?
When will it be supported?
Publicado originalmente por Ubi_TheBerry:
Hey there guys,

Thanks for reaching out.

At the moment, Valve currently tests / verifies games for their compatibility with Steam Deck, so please watch the Store Page for any changes to it's current status.

For now, we don't have any information regarding any official Steam Deck support from the game team themselves though.

Should this change, we'll update the forums.

In the meantime, I've merged Steam Deck queries here as some members of the community are noting success, as our support is limited with this platform, I hope the suggestions made here can help.

If there's anything more we can answer at all, please let us know!

I meant, nightmare as in the screen is too small, the controls would be too clunky. Basically, I don't think it would be fun playing it on the Steam Deck.
Dude, did you ever realized that you can plug a big fat Display into the Steam Dock?

And an added mouse, too? That is called a computer. The whole point of the deck is that it is portable, and if you have to plug in a "big fat" screen, then it is not so portable anymore.

That doesn't explain why though. Is it the anti cheat or what the stops it from working.

why? because it is unsupported. that is why! reading comprehension 101

Few things. The Deck is a handheld pc, so you're playing with it a bit closer to you than a monitor on a table would be. I was generally concerned about the screen size before my Deck arrived, but it honestly isn't an issue in practice. Also, when/if you want a larger screen, you can easily connect to a monitor or tv; i was playing Anno 1800 on a 55" tv yesterday. Basically the same as plugging a monitor into a more "normal" PC.

The controls are awesome; two touchpads, two sticks and a bunch of buttons mean tons of layout options. Most games have a number of control scheme options for the deck, and remapping is quite easy. Want a mouse and keyboard? The Deck can do that too, you can easily treat it as a traditional PC and connect all the peripherals you might want.

After spending way too many years chained to a table and chair for gaming purposes, being able to comfortably run PC games on my couch, through the TV or wherever else I want is amazing. Don't knock it til you try it.

For those saying the steam deck is bad for city management games with lots of UI elements. Let me introduce you to the NREAL AIR AR glasses. Its made playing on the deck that much more amazing.

I've used them on a plane, laying down, on a couch etc.

Pros:
-40-60 inch 60 hz TV in your pocket
-Can scale size of TV screen via steamdeck scaling
-The glasses use less power than the steam deck screen
-Amazing for any game with UI/Text, but also great for games like Elden RIng.
-Lightweight, feel and look like normal glasses in public use.
-Supports some smart phones (more with adapter). Can consume youtube, netflix etc.
-Works with PC, Consoles, etc. (may need nreal adapter), some still beta testing but generally Ive had no issues on SD and PC. Xbox seems to work too (beta)

Cons:
-Need contacts if bad eyesight, they give you a lens attachment that you must get custom tailored to your eyesight
-2-3 hours of gameplay causes a slight eye strain (depends on game, scaling, etc) Taking 5-15 minute breaks helps
-Can't charge deck at the same time unless you use certain docks.
-$300-400 (but its a 60 inch TV in your pocket).

The pros heavily outweigh the cons depending on whats important to you.

The game is working fine for me I can play no problem except online. I don’t know why but my friends can’t join me and I can’t join them. I tried different networks and that didn’t work. I’ve tried looking for a fix but can’t find anything. Every time they try to join me they get network connection error. This is happening on the Steam Deck. On my pc we have no issue at all. I hope someone can explain.

Thanks for continuing to share you experiences here guys, while we're limited in where we can assist, it's great to see you sharing your own tips to getting the game running on the deck, we appreciate it!

Does it work for you in game mode? After the new Steam OS update it only works in desktop mode for me. Described the issue on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/zutnzz/anno_1800_does_not_run_in_game_mode_after_steam/

Same here. Works only in Desktop Mode. But Multiplayer doesnt work, although I have already released specific ports and NAT type is Open. No chance to get it run.

just reposting what was posted in the reddit that freiBär posted earlier. The following command in launch option does get it working

PROTON_LOG=1 %command%

Unfortunately it generates a report file in your home directory, which can grew up to several 100 MB, so just delete it now and then.

until a real fix is released by devs

It is greatly appreciated.

Hey Hailstorm,

Feedback has been noted to the team, however there's no information regarding any further updates to implement additional Steam Deck support and features.

The feedback is still welcomed though!

Hello I just got it on steam deck.

I'm trying to get the hang of the controls.

Do you have any ideas about what or how to input a control scheme?
Or mapping out the controls?
I'm new to all that.
Thank you

Smaller saves work fine; larger saves crash during load, so you can either use GeForce now (no mods) or go onto steam os beta (but it has other problems with other games) where memory issues are sorted
