Dockland's Tobias trading times
I don't understand why Tobias is taking 70 + minutes at one island when other islands are in the 20 to 35 minute range. Anybody experience this ?

Try increasing the dock loading speed. If the dock is particularly bad at transferring, like 2.0 tons of goods per second, then 100 tons will take 50 seconds. Transferring like 2000 or 4000 might as well be forever.

I always get something like 17 minutes for some reason

I've tried dedicating an Advanced Pier with an item I trade with Toby but he doesn't follow that rule. It is an island that is very heavy in industry and requires a vast amount of resources to function . The pier he selects only unloads at 2.0t/sec which I upgraded with the only item I could find to 2.6t/sec .... big whoop!
So the other question I pose is ... is the unload time based on the largest trade item tonnage or the total tonnage of the entire 13 items being traded????
Thanks you for the above responses and in advance of any additional replies.

Is the pier within the range of your docklands? Have you build all the Loading Wharf’s that are possible?
If you have no issue using mods: there are some that give you certain specialists that increase loading speed at piers. (also there is one that enables you to build docklands in the new world, which can be useful)
In terms of your other question i’d say that the unload time is based on total tonnage traded.

Key is that your trade post should be far away from trade ship while Docklands Main Wharf is closest to ship trade coming on your island so ship trade use Docklands Main Wharf rather than normal trade post, be sure add lot of Loading Wharf then secondary add Pier if necessary but my problem is I can't add all Piers as there is no room for it, loading wharf is better than piers, and make sure all building connect to Docklands Main Wharf as bonus stack together, otherwise it's might not work.

It's painful to work with docklands try to build all building to connect and look nice while I need lot of space outside of dockland as well, but it's impossible even on large island with long beach due I had lot of non dockland building on long beach, sure as harbour defense or oil depart, or shipyard, so go on.

My Docklands setup is loaded with wharfs and piers but, of course, the pier Toby uses is not near it. I've just gotten into mods so i'll look for that but there is still no way to insure he will use that pier. Thanks for your reply.

My experience is that Tobias comes in at different locations around the map so placing the Dockland based on where he will appear seems like a sound idea but you won't know where he enters until after you build it.
To address your statement on not enough area to build Dockland there is a Mod that increases to port area and it is amazing. The added MOI (MIO ?) Browser really makes modding much easier.
I appreciate your responding to my inquiry.
I started supping some of the items from other islands so there is less needed from Tobias and I think I'm seeing a decrease in his unloading times. Still investigating.
