Ubisoft Client required?

Is this version just requiring a login in the game but not asking you to install Ubisoft client to run the game?

Anno 1800 requires you to have an active Ubisoft Connect account to play. When you launch the game from steam it fires up the Ubisoft client for you then proceeds to load the game.

yeah this is F annoying !!! and not only this but game require internet to play ;/ I travel sometimes to places without internet so thanks Ubisoft i will have to have 2 copies of a game .... one from steam and one pirated for my holidays

You do NOT need internet to play the game while you are travelling. Simply set Ubisoft Connect to offline while you have good internet before you go. You can play without it, but it will not synchronise to the Cloud. Then, when you get home, simply go back online and it will all re-synchronise.

Us anyone else having issues with UBISOFT Connect? I don't have time to diagnose this ♥♥♥♥ I paid money for it. I had a much better experience when I used to sail the seas. I can't believe I am paying for "A Ubisoft Services is currently unenviable please try again later."
