Bundle discount for loyal fans
Is there any particular reason as to why the developers / publishers deliberately choose to ignore multiple posts asking why they are shafting loyal fans of this beloved series?

I love the Anno series from Anno 1602 onwards and bought Anno 1800 on Steam before it got delisted (good that it came back to Steam eventually), and bought all the season passes and a majority of the cosmetic DLC. I am fairly certain the developers are aware that Steam has this very common feature for bundles whereby, if someone already owns part of the items included in a bundle, the overall price of the bundle is proportionately discounted.

It is highly unfortunate that Bluebyte/ Ubisoft have deliberately chosen not to support this Steam feature thereby forcing loyal fans of the game to purchase the cosmetic DLC individually. Would request you to check and rectify this, otherwise for the sequel, I will vote with my wallet and wait for the final Definitive /Annoversary edition to come out, given that the developer doesn’t appear to really care about loyal fans of the series.

Not only this, but I bought the base game on sale after the recent free weekend, just to make sure I enjoyed the game before plopping down huge money for the Annoversary edition since it was brand new and something like $130.

Now that I've played a little more and the Annoversary edition is 40% off for the Autumn sale, I discover that I'm not allowed to buy it because I already own the base game! 🤬🤬

Ubisoft Greed. Just like how they put the DLC bundles in the DLC section to circumvent bundle discounts that Steam does.

This is the exact reason why I have not bought the game all this time. Paying the full price on release and getting shafted by not being able to take advantage of later discounts because you already have the base game is utter BS from Ubisoft. They need to implement the 'complete your collection' options on the steam store, and while at it just release a CLEAN version on Steam without the stupid Ubisoft connect/uplay integration.

Here is the response I got from Steam about this. It's official, this is strictly a decision made by Ubisoft, they could have allowed an upgrade path for previous customers if they chose to, but instead they just gave all of us paying customers the ol' one-finger salute:

We can indeed see here that you already have the base game so you won't be able to purchase Anno 1800 - Definitive Annoversary even if you remove the game from your library.

Whether or not to ship an upgrade path is up to the publisher, not Valve. You may wish to reach out to the publisher’s support team by using the information from the official support section here to make that request.

Because we have provided all the information we have for your issue, we're now closing this help request. If you have an unrelated issue please open a new help request and we will be happy to help.

Thanks for sharing the official response that clearly shows the whole problem could be resolved by Ubisoft if they did not want to screw over their paying customers.
