If you're new to these types of games (where you set up production chains like say, Factorio), you'd want to make something you can copy paste repeatedly - often called a "module". They don't need maximum efficiency as there's islands (lots of them) that have plenty of space and you're not going to use all of them, nor do they need to fit perfectly as you can place individual farm tiles -and decorations- to fill up dead space.
