Ubisoft Account Scam = No Support = WARNING

Hi all.

TLDR: STAY AWAY, Ubisoft will take your money but if you ever have account issues they will ignore you as they do countless others. Steam wont refund, you'll be minus hundreds of dollars and have no working software.


I wanted to post an update on my on-going issues with Ubisoft to act as a warning to others.

Anno 1800 is an amazing game. I love it, or at least I did until earlier this week I ran into issues logging into my Ubisoft account. So I went to their support website to try and get help. Turns out on the 28th of September they disabled live chat support (see link 1 below). Instead they ask you to use Discord, Twitter or Facebook - we'll come back to this in a second.

I did find a form on their website for "lost accounts", so I sent in a request on Monday. Typically when you create a support ticket you get an automated email confirming your ticket was created, but not with Ubisoft. Later that day I checked to see if I had a ticket confirmation, and I didn't so tried creating another ticket only to realise they just don't confirm ticket creating. - That was four days ago, and so far nothing.

Anyway, I looked at their support Discord and at a glance out of a glance of the ~45 Anno support requests at least a dozen are some sort of account / ownership issue and in many cases people report getting no help from support even after waiting for weeks.

You could try and contact them via Facebook or Twitter, but good luck if you don't have accounts on those platforms especially if you live in a country where Twitter is now charging users to make an account.

All of this is to say, if you haven't played Anno yet you are missing out it is an awesome game. But if you need customer support, you wont get any. Don't buy Ubisoft games, buy and play games from publishers who actually give a damn.

p.s., I am not the only person having these issues Trust Pilot (see 2) have 1,413 reviews for Ubisoft with an average 1.1 star rating. On the first page 19 posts are about people being ghosted by support, only one person has anything positive to say, and it is that live support helped them get their account back after two months. The only problem.... live chat is now gone. GG

Update: Turns out if you try to open a case using the account recovery form, they delete the request and don't create a ticket; however if you create a ticket under the Purchases and Subscriptions category (aka. "I'm trying to pay you money but your website wont let me") you get an automated confirmation email, AND an open case on your account you can see via the website.
