I did a run of the campaign in Expert for the achievement and it was a good challenge, but now I just want peace :D
I play with pirates because I like to bribe them and eventually trade with them. They are very thirsty and their cannons sell well to Isabel.
Map is revealed, I like to see at one glance what is worth taking. At the moment I'm playing a seed a youtuber recommended, so I knew beforehand what I like.
Everything is on easy, no upkeep costs, no refund costs and of course I can move buildings.
I try not to abuse docklands, I want to build almost all production chains. I just avoid the super annoying stuff like gold and when other minerals run thin I import them too. My main use for Docklands is the fast loading speed and that it looks so cool.
At the moment I play with all DLCs but sometimes I play a reduced, almost base game version with only old and new world and a few quality of life DLCs like bright harvest, docklands and seeds of change.
You can deny him access to the New World and Arctic which will prevent him from building airships. Downside is that this also stunts his growth at basically Artisans. If after awhile you do spare him one tiny island with no helium or bauxite he can get up to Engineers, but his islands will still be under-developed compared to the other AI.
Thanks for the tip, but I think I can live without his constant nagging for a while ;)
I usually make peace with both pirates and the AI, and then focus on building and quests.
I would like to play a warlike game, but without active pause it is just not possible or enjoyable.
There is a short struggle for income, where I simply have to use propaganda and do quests to survive.
After that phase, the hard part is Influence, it really is difficult. Luckily, the needs of Investors are not too hard to meet. Get 3000 Engineers to build a bank, then get lots of Investors.
Jewellery & Gramophones can be provided by Mr Garrick in Town Hall, Members Club is easy. A lot of the other items aren't too difficult, and become increasingly easy with some Legendaries. So that's what I have to do, to get influence for Town Halls and Trade Unions.
I'm currently upping my Investors(on, to get the influence to go to The Arctic and develop that. I want the Gas for Crown Falls, so then I'll go to Crown Falls next.
Sounds the stadium would solve a lot of your problems.
I don't even know what the stadium is.
I know I could get a lot of influence from The New World by getting Influence from Obrero houses, but I can't see how to get Attractiveness high enough without cheesing it.
I've got 2 of 6 districts in the sphere of a Town Hall Developed on Bright Sands. I'll just meet the need of more investors, get 3000 Engineers to build a bank, then push them up to investors. All the islands in The New World I'm getting Oil from, and all have Gas Stations. I can increase most Investor needs quite easily. I have not much attractiveness at present - 1000 on Bright Sands, so not getting many walk in guests. I'll develop Crown Falls that way when I get it. I suspect I might need some war to get the land I want in Arctic and Crown Falls. Lady Hunt already lost her main island to me, and it's my new production centre.
Ah, you don't have rise of the new world? The stadium works like the worlds fair except it gives you influence as a reward.
Influence from the stadium is a very nice and strong option 👍🏻
To OP: i play with 3 AI (2 easy and one normal/hard) and both pirates, map not revealed, full refund, starting with flagg ship.
Yeah, I think I have.
I think I have all DLC other than The Anarchist.
I've just not got around to playing a few of them yet.
Well, if influence is your bottleneck you should go develop the new world.
To the OP: I'm playing on several saves with different settings.
One is with easy AI and pirates to get the World Peace achievement, but I like this one very much, so I continued it.
Another is a solo game without AI and pirates. It's a bit lonely, but very relaxing.
Well, and then I have also a game with hardest possible difficulty, small world, less recources, low income, only 3 star AI and pirates on hard, traders are disabled, .....and so on. Much "fun".
I already have. I've got several islands down there(including Prosperity). One sending Coffee/Tobacco/Chocolate, one sending Coutchouk, one sending a bit of Rum(I'm making quite a bit in Old World), one sending Pearls only. I'm getting Oil from all, more than I need right now. All have Fuel Stations and Silos.
Just not built any Stadium, so I'll have to have a look.
The Island the Artistas want is still empty. I can see it's left for me whenever I want it.
I know what I want, it's just how I best go about getting there. My aim is to have the most beautiful Crown Falls I can, powered by Gas, with 3000(I think it is) Academics, full Museum, Botanical Garden, Zoo. Fun Fair etc.
I just don't know what order I should do everything. At what stage to make the new Airships. When to implement Postage, when to look at Tourism(doesn't seem too much point when my most Attractive island is only 1000, but need to know how it works for Crown Falls. I just have the Pier and a couple of hotels and bus stops on Bright Sands.
I have done Land of Lions on a different save to this one. It was fun, but also a bit of a chore.
I'm getting no Legend Visitors, so thought I'd do Arctic then Crown Falls. I have enough Influence now to develop the Arctic. I will probably have to have a war, because I want 'all' the gas.
Just for my curiosity: why gas? I only use the arctic gas for refrigerators. Is there even enough gas available to electrify full populated Crown Falls?
