can't complete quest

There is a quest where you have to have 4 schnapps in storage. I set the minimum stock level to 8 to make sure I would get the minimum requirement for that quest. However when my stock gets close to having 4 the stock suddenly goes to 0. Why is this happening?

Do you have population (Farmers and Workers) on that island that consumes schnapps?
Hint: minimum stock only affects trades and transport not the consumption/production on that island.

Your population drinks that schnaps. You can forbid them to do so until that quest is solved and then allow them again. Just click on a house, go to the happiness goods tab and click pause on schnaps. Don't forget to allow them consumption again after the quest.

If you want to know if you produce enough schnaps for your people (or anything), press ctrl q to bring up the production screen. If the green bar is bigger than the blue one, you're good. Always use this function because you want to make sure you provide enough goods but also you don't want to overproduce too much, especially early on, that can ruin you. The exception of course being soap. Overproduce the crap out of that and sell excess to Eli.
