cannot access part of my island due to rocks blocking it

all of my iron mines are in on section of the island and I cant get to it due to a line of rocks blocking road access. how do i get rid of the rocks?

I guess you're playing the campaign ? You'll get access to this part of your island when you progress the main storyline. Look if you have any quest to do and finish them, you'll get a demolition master to get rid of the rocks. Until then you can buy steal beams from Archie.

You can also put the steal beams in every of your kontors on the passive trade option, Archie will come from time to time and sell one steal beam, in late game he can sell more.

There are 6 Chapters to the storyline in the campaign, and the opportunity to clear out the rocks and gain access to the iron mines comes at the end of Chapter 1, so you won't have to wait long to get there.

Until then, if you are wanting Steel Beams in order to acquire other islands, yes, going to Archie is the way to go.
